Who Are We?
Speedball British Columbia (aka Speedball BC) is a not-for-profit sport organization that was established by world champions in speedball. It is recognized and accredited by the Fédération Internationale de Speedball (FISB) as the governing body of speedball in British Columbia. Our aim is to introduce speedball to the community of British Columbia and to promote an equitable, healthy lifestyle for different ages, genders, and abilities.
What is Speedball?
History
Speedball is a racket sport that was invented in Egypt in the 1970s, originally as a training tool for tennis players to help improve their coordination and reflexes. Soon it became a popular sport in its own right, and in 1986 the Fédération Internationale de Speedball (FISB) was established including Egypt, France, and Japan. Today, speedball is played in more countries across continents including Poland, Germany, Tunisia, Kuwait, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, India, Pakistan, and USA. Finally, the game made its way to Canada, landing in our own Burnaby, BC!
